T.V. show "Summerland"?

On that show Zac Efron palys a kid name "Cameron Bale". I only watched like the first season and than stopped but I saw a bit part where he's talking to Kay Panabaker's character about his dad hurting him and that he promised he'd stop. Wtf was his dad doing to him like beating him or something? It bugs me that I don't know that about his character.
