Can the story about the Sandman be a great story?

The sandman mythology not the wreslter lol.The fictional story about a magical being that sprinkles magical sand into a childs eye to put them to sleep.I am just asking cause i am good at writing stories,and wanted to go magical storyline.We see alot of Magical beings that are being put in the media like the Leprechaun,Santa Claus,and alot of The Tooth Fairy like Dwayne Johnson Didn't see that coming lol,but yeah wanted to get your opinon on can a movie about the sandman sound good.I hope you don't think this sounds childish,or anything just was trying to think outside the box since most of the good stories these days are taken.Plus I like to be creative with my little siblings,and they are tried of seeing The Tooth Fairy,and Santa Claus Movies.
