Is there a way to dry out a synthetic cloth?

Um I'm new to cloth. And I'm making a bongo, but I don't have the skin to go on it. I have some synthetic cloth. I think it's supposed to be like suede or something. Is there a way to sorta dry it out to were it might act more like an animal skin?
