Does running help you get leaner legs?

I have been running 6 km everyday for the last four months and before that I ran 4 kms for four months. I both want to lose weight and get leaner legs. Well anatomically my legs are not very thin but when I was about 25 yrs old (I am 33 now I weigh about 61,5 kg and 168 cm) I was 52 kgs and my legs were ok. I never had very skinny legs anyway. But now especially my inner legs are killing me and I feel like all that running goes for nothing. I am not dieting but I am not over eating either. So what is it that I am doing wrong. Is there light at the end of the tunnel. Please help me. Thank you.
