I want to be a famous singer but don't know how?

I am 14, almost 15, years old, and I really want to be a singer. I love singing, but the only place I sing are in the shower and around the house. I have sang in front of people once which was in 3rd grade and it was a song about martha stewart(weird I know but it was a start). I have no idea how i sound and putting a video on youtube is not an option because my parents are paranoid. I'm to nervous to ask them about singing lessons. What should I do? HELP
